The development of new sustainable materials and coatings to tackle hospital infections.

The objective of MOBACT, as the project has been baptized, is to develop a technology to produce new coating materials containing active substances  to avoid the accumulation and proliferation of microorganisms and bacteria reducing the risk of colonization of sanitary surfaces .

The new antimicrobial compounds will be included in polymeric matrices to make possible their use both in the form of water-based varnishes  as well as injected products.

This is a strategic project financed by  Agència Valenciana de la Innovació (AVI) and is carried out in collaboration by Aimplas (Plastics Technological Institute, Valencia ), ITM-UPV (the Institute of Materials Technology and the Institute of Chemical Technology of the Polytechnic University of Valencia , the Lamberti company, Industrias Tayg, as well as the La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe, Valencia) .

Lamberti will develop several coating formulations containing different antimicrobian additives to be applied on plastic, wood and aluminium used in Hospital furnishings.
